Treasures??

Treasures still treasured in our back yard

A trolley.  Essential for hauling washing machines and ovens in and out of the yard

A pile of paving stones.  Leftover from the front entranceway I presume.  Some day, some inheriting child will have to remove these.  Or maybe they could be used for making paths.  That's probably what 'he' had in mind.  Another project dreamed up and never completed

Metal awning posts and various pieces of heavy pipe.  Another project.  A retracting awning for the back terrace.  We even had a huge yacht sail which was to go on top.  That has disappeared into someone else's backyard

Two rusty ends of a big hot water heater.  The rest of the heater was used to make a bbq.  I must make a note, these can probably be chucked in the next clean-out.  Without too much resistance.

The BBQ was completed and gives him much joy.  It's the third he has made from old water heaters

Bit hard to see amongst the rest of the junk but these are the two wrought iron ends and the back of a wooden bench.  Great idea.  Could possibly come to fruition though they look in need of lots of TLC

  1. I love trying to make new things from old.
But eventually you have to admit defeat and concede that it’s just junk and you need to get rid of it.
I don’t think that is actually part of Greek DNA

  2. I am married to a man of many projects. Some have even been finished! He’s not afraid to tackle anything- a blessing and a curse. - Jenn

    1. Yes, it's all fine and dandy when they produce a masterpiece and projects keep them busy. It's the bits of wood and iron and heaven knows what that I don't like

  3. Definite Man Treasures LOL. But they seem to slowly be getting whittled away, one by one, so there is hope yet for a clean tidy backyard :)

    1. We have thrown a few truck loads of treasures so it's definitely getting better. But there's more!

  4. May I suggest that your husband moves to France where he will be properly appreciated. The French never throw anything away, or if they do it would be to their own dump in nearby woodland. Old cars are used for hens, large bean tins become home to Geraniums, and even worn-out Wellies are planted with herbs by the back door. Everything has a practical use until disintegration decides otherwise.

    1. Oh, he would love it. He also has a pile of old tiles, railings and more long pipes in Vasos field next day . She never throws anything away and understands

  5. Maybe those water heater ends could become smaller, portable bbqs.

  6. Oh, can I have those bits of old paving slabs please? You could drop them off next time you're passing.

  7. I won’t say no to broken slabs or even concrete either….I have an idea or rather a path in mind. You could send them home with your rellies😊 Wouldn’t have a trailer load of sand hanging around by any chance??

    1. The rellies actually did take 20 kilos of marble back with them years ago. They've got a very nice marble topped coffee table.
Sand! Not at the moment. But there's a pile next door they wouldn't miss 😂

    1. Yes, I guess. But it's not my treasure! If only we had a barn I could close the doors on

    1. You would love our back yard!! Why the hell aren't you all closer!! I'd get rid of so much.
We do have sausages but the taste is completely different. They are a stronger taste and ....I don't know, just not the same. If we had visitors from the UK I'd ask them to bring some

  10. I like rusty bits like gates and fences etc, makes me wonder about the history of them and the origin, on the other hand you could have more space if they were beyond saving and you got to get rid of them. Such things to ponder.
