Christmas arrived early this year. I used to complain that we started too early when we decorated around December 10th. This year we didn't even wait till December.
We asked the grandaughters to come and climb up into the store cupboard above the bathroom and put all the summer gear away so naturally they brought down all the Christmas decorations and once they were down it was natural to put them up, but not in the store cupboard.
This is standard in most greek houses. The bathroom has a low ceiling and above it is a store cupboard. Very difficult for persons of a certain age to access
We did a change around of the furniture earlier in the year and there was no place to put the xmas tree. I found the perfect place up on the treadmill. What a pity we won't be able to do any exercise on it for a few months
The three xmas elves do the decorating
Up, up, up to the rafters
This year it's Luli's turn to put the red poinsettia flower on the top of the tree
A joint effort
And here is the tree lit up at night
Merry Christmas to one and all
The way things are going here I won’t be putting a tree up at all
ReplyDeleteIt’s nice that your grandchildren came over to help you set it up
Will they come back and help you pack it all away too
Here’s to everyone spending Christmas with their loved ones
We are still waiting to see if we will have a family Xmas day. Looks like immediate family will be allowed. Santa will be very sad if they're not here with us.
DeleteI hope you get your tree. If I remember rightly you had two last year!
Golly! I wouldn't fancy climbing up into that cupboard!
ReplyDeleteA pretty, sparkly Christmas tree always lifts the mood. No wonder so many people have started early this year.
Small children love the cupboard. A sort of clubhouse. I don't know what we will do when they all get too old and long legged to climb up there.
DeleteCats love the cupboard too. F and Mr B left the ladder open under ours one night and woke to the sound of a Tigger leaping the last couple of feet from the top step into the cupboard. F just saw the end of a stripy tail disappearing into its depths. I wouldn't come out until I had inspected every corner and tested a few for sleeping in. Whenever I want into it now I sit in the middle of the bathroom doorway and crane my neck to look upwards until F lifts me up and lets me 'sojourn' in there a while.
DeleteSweet, Tigger. Hope it's not because of a smell of small rodents that attracts you!
DeleteIt is a very pretty tree. Will be great for cheering up the days. I hope you all get to keep Christmas Day together :) xx
ReplyDeleteI like the red balls on the green tree. My favourite sort of deco.
DeleteI would have trouble accessing it as well being 5 ft 2 but my oldest son who is 6 ft 5 would have no problem, maybe they are made for tall people.
ReplyDeleteWooo, your son really towers over you! Trouble is with this cupbaord that only small chidlren can actually fit inside it. Tall people can only fit their heads in. Its a bit of a nuisance really
DeleteThat is a difficult cupboard to get to! Thank goodness for grand daughters. Your tree looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Thank goodness for grandchildren... you're darn right. They do a lot of jobs for us though they're growing fast and we probably wont see much of them when they grow a little more
DeleteYour tree looks lovely. I think people are putting their decorations up earlier this year.
ReplyDeleteI noticed yesterday when we went out after dusk, the first time in many weeks, that there were xmas lights everywhere though the council hasn't put up any decorations yet
DeleteI shall wait (despite protests) until about Dec' 15th before I think of trees, baubles, etc. Even my Turkey will be bought on around Dec' 22/23rd.
ReplyDeleteEarly enough! I would prefer to keep it all to the 12 nights of Christmas but I'm not allowed to.
DeleteA beautiful tree and elves to decorate it for you. I am surprised that you have a customary storage space above the bathroom! It is details like these that make me an avid House Hunters International fan. Quirky and fun, unless you need to get up there!
ReplyDeleteEvery house that I know of has one of these cupbaords. Its usually used for storing carpets and suitcases and big stuff. Very difficult to access. You need a step ladder and a bit of agility. I try to keep as little as possible up there. In summer it has all the xmas deorations and in winter it has the fans and swimming stuff. And that's it, more or less
DeleteMerry Christmas Linda to you and to all your family.
