Is it a bird, no it's one of those motorised kite things. This guy has been flying over Poros for years taking photos. Rumours are he is a man to be reckoned with. You can see a lot from up there. Big plant-ations for instance.

Poros has not been corona-free. A few warnings would have been desirable. We were all getting a bit too lax in our precautions. The Mayor of the town across the strait has announced a virus case at the High School. Meanwhile over all the country there are more than 2,000 cases daily, and rising. We have just has more restrictions announced and the country has been divided into two zones, the red zones and the rest of the country.
The greater Athens area is in the 'war' zone but this time they have excluded the Saronic islands, that's us. As from Tuesday all over Greece masks must be worn inside and out. All business stops from midnight to 5am. In the 'war' zones all cafes, bars, tavernas will be closed. This will continue till 1st Deceember.
Looks like our Christmas will be similar to our easter. Each family on its own.

Oh dear sounds like the red zone is going through what Melbourne went through. Life is not so strict here but we have to wear masks every time we go out of the house. Kind of used to it now. I hope you stay safe. Always makes me smile seeing what people carry on their bikes.

Lucky for us the earthquake was on the other side of the country. We didn't feel a thing. Tragedy over there though

DeleteIt’s such a ‘gut wrenching’ feeling when you realise things are not getting any better, in fact could be getting worse. It’s easy for us to say, but just knuckle down and do your best to ride it out. Victoria did it and so can you.

Yes, I was suddenly very fearful. Everything seemed to cave in. There was the big earthquake (not near us ), Erdogan threatening to occupy most of greece and then suddenly thousands of corona cases, plus a few more little things which really didnt matter in the big picture. It was just too darn much.

ReplyDeleteLast spring we were determined to keep locked down and did so for a few months. I hope we have the same strength now. It's much worse this time round. We just did a huge shop and don't need anything, hopefully for a long time

We have been told not to leave Scotland now. And it looks like if Sturgeon gets money she will lock us down also. Her wording as always demonises the English government. But really it just shows that we can not survive without money from the UK government, not a great message for independence. there is one case in our town. Hopefully we will all be ok through lockdown. Be safe Linda and family.
ReplyDeleteHi Sol, it surely is money, money, money. My kids got through the first lockdown financially. I hope we get through this second one. Not just money wise but it's a large extended family and I want them all safe.

ReplyDeleteWe don't know how these pandemics run, the whys or the wherefores however much people like to think they do and whose fault it is. Best to go for doing what we feel comfortable with and mostly for older people if they are particularly worried to stay away from other people. I have had the last three Christmases alone, nothing to do with Covid and I don't mind it. Lots worse things could happen. Earthquakes for instance.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind spending Xmas alone but we are used to a big family day with Santa arriving and a long day of together-festivities. Who knows.
DeleteWith the Nativity fast approaching, I have been wondering if our church will close again...putting us back at home watching it live-streamed. Oh, I hope not. But as you probably already have seen, our cases in the U.S. are spiking too. Thanksgiving is gonna be sad for most Americans this year, which has always been our biggest travel day of the year. Who wants to be responsible for giving the Grandparents Covid???
ReplyDeleteOur churches here are only allowed 9 people in them. Only 20 can attend, outside, funerals, baptisms and weddings. The way things are going they'll not be allowed to open their doors.
DeleteWhat is the rate of covid there at the moment that could cause everyone to have to wear a mask? We have had the odd case crop up here but thankfully it's under control.
ReplyDeleteCases have gone up from 100 a day to over 2000 but also there are a lot more people in hospital.
