Photos From a Greek Island

A wall of sweet smelling jasmine. The sea always  in the background

One of those blue and white houses for which Greek  islands are famed. It has tiny balconies with a panoramic  view of the bay and the channel across to the mountains on the mainland

Rays of the sun illuminating the blue sky.
Old stone houses in our former neighbourhood

A yacht from New Zealand
Of course we need a photo when one of these rarities appear in the marina

Steps. Steep steps
Poros town is built on a hill.
The sky today is clouded with Saharan sand

When the sun shines the blue and white shines too

Steps, alleyways and more steps all the way up to the top of the hill.

Poppi took the photo of the Kiwi yacht.
The other photos were taken by my daughter Elli as she walks between office and home.

Thanks kids.

  1. I can see why you have been there 45 years.

    1. Now I'd like to live on a tiny quiet island without the summer buzz.

  2. It is a truly beautiful island. I'm not sure I could handle all the socialising, (or some of the eating) but I could certainly give it a darned good try, if only for those views and the weather. Lovely photographs.

    1. I worm myself out of as much socialising as I can . I would prefer a quieter life admiring the views . More socialising today but at least it was in english

  3. Strangely I just had a wave of something like homesickness for our years in Greece. The depth of history and culture all around, life there was very good. It is very beautiful and you are fortunate to be able to call it home.

    1. It can be wonderful. You'll have to come back for a last shot before you head south

  4. I've always been tempted to buy a small ancient stone cottage on a tiny Greek Island. Too late now I fear, but the dream lives on.

    1. There are plenty of little stone cottages here but they need a lot of work and they're no longer cheap.

  7. Lovely photos. We are thinking of where to go next year and I'm thinking a Greek Island might be on our list.

    1. Look at the Saronic Gulf. You can island hop from Poros to a few others. But look at Lipsi too where my granddaughter is this summer!
