Santa Run

Poros is joining in on new festive customs.
This year we had our first Santa Run along the waterfront.

Runners, including some of our family of course, took part. Hats were free. They ran, walked or pushed baby buggies half a kilometre along the waterfront and then half a kilometre back again. I could do that! And I just might, next year, with a family 'support team'.

Daughter far right having received her medal.

Everyone who ran got a medal and a Xmas spice cake. Right on!!

This took place on 30th December. You have to remember, Santa here is Saint Basil who appears on New Year's Eve, not Saint Nick who slides down chimneys on Christmas Eve.

Municipal Square
A candy coloured train-aki (little train) full of squealing kids, chuff-chuff-chuffing,  round and round

  1. Red and white hats seem to have taken over the world - even places where Saint Nic never set foot or some incarnation of Green Man used to distribute the seasonal gifts. Go you - start training, 1 km doesn't sound unachievable.

    1. It's a stroll really. I hope they don't make it a marathon next year 😂

  5. To answer your questions about the egg situation here, the supermarkets are still selling eggs but not cage eggs as those are now banned, you can still buy free range (which I think is much more humane) but the market is struggling to keep up with demand so when the egg orders come in, they go quite quickly.

  6. We had one here just before Christmas. I didn't watch but I was walking the dog when lots of panting Santas walked through the churchyard on their way home.
