We've had some sunny but cold days and I've enjoyed being out and about again. Over the holidays there were cars and bikes whizzing past. Three cars and a motorbike is heavy traffic here 🤣. Now they've all gone home and most days it's only barking dogs that I see and keep my distance from
Walking up the mountain road to the temple of Poseidon
I always pass a church or two on my walks. This a chapel dedicated to Saint Nektarios. In the grounds of Paradise Taverna
Looking down to our local Vayonia Bay
The neighbours orange and lemon trees are loaded this year. Unfortunately they are not worth picking. The price is just too low. We can take as much as we want and Vaso brings us baskets of mandarines . Most of them fall and rot
The fertile area of Poros, up in the hills, called Fousa. This is one of the small vineyards, cleared and pruned and waiting for spring
The first spring flowers. Maybe not spring. Winter flowers. Lovely to see the colour
Today the weather has changed . There's snow in the air
Thank you for taking us on your walk. I can't imagine letting lemons and oranges go to waste, but I guess it's like apples here, especially roadside apple trees that have grown by accident. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteYes, everyone has citrus trees around here. They used to make a living out of their orchards but not any more. Our neighbours trees are the old ones where the fruit has a lot of pips. Not popular anymore. Delicious fruit though
DeleteI would also give barking dogs a wide berth.
ReplyDeleteSend us some of your surplus oranges! They are £2.40 a bag here!
So far all the dogs have remained behind fences. I hope they stay there.
DeleteYour oranges are an exotic fruit. So darn expensive. They are about 1 euro a kilo here. We don't often have to buy any. Our daughter has trees to. So do we but ours dont deliver for some reason
Glad to hear the crazy season has ended and you have your wild country back to yourself again :)
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for winter! I can drive down oue mountain to do some shopping and only meet one car or motorbike. Mind you, the town is full of people but they are just the locals out for a chat and a coffee.
DeleteI would love to smell the aroma from those Citrus trees. I have smelled the orange trees aromas in the Algarve and they are Heaven on Earth.
ReplyDeleteWhen they are all in flower the scent is fantastic. We have 2 lemon trees that give off that perfume. Lovely
Deletedaffodils?
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't often see daffodils here. Frezza is the greek name for them. Maybe they are freesias. I'm not sure
DeleteI've spotted both Daffs and Snowdrops in the churchyard. PLEASE; no snow. I can't stand it.
ReplyDeleteJust a little bit of snow?? Doubt if we will get much than a few inches, if that. It's exciting when its so rare
DeleteLovely to see the start of the spring flowers. Shame the citrus fruit can't be used.
