Summer Photos

We've had a few heatwaves this summer.  Temps are back to normal now, around 32o on the island and breezes are from the north, summer winds called Meltemi or Maïstros.

This photo was taken during the last heatwave when my daughter and grandkids had to go to the city for a french exam and hospital tests for their further education .    The cities of Argos and Nafplio always bake in the summer even though they are beside the sea.

43oC is about the norm for them in a heatwave.

The maiden aunts across the water are famous for their homemade, down-on-the-farm cooking but also for their roses.  This one was in full bloom a few weeks ago.  They are getting on in years and are teaching their grandnephew, one of many, to prune the roses.  He came and pruned mine this year.

One son-in-law is a taxi boat captain, the other a whizz with yachts.
He's one of very few who will climb up the mast to do repairs.

It's a long way down.  He managed to hang on, do the repairs and take a few photos from up there.

    1. Not many would shimmy up to that height, and work as well. I'm glad I didn't see the photos till later

  4. I enjoyed seeing the news here. I have been reading about the young mum murdered in Athens probably by Albania thieves and the dog was left hanging.

    1. Good grief, we're on to the next wife killer now and there was a march against the recent spate of killers of women. The husband finally confessed to murdering his wife and hanging the dog. There has been a real outburst of violence in the last few months. A reaction to being locked in and away from social contact!

    4. He put on a good show. They always referred to him on the news as 'the pilot'. Pilot or not, he boiled over and then very coldly and deliberately strangled the dog and set a scene of mayhem by Albanian home invaders.
There's been a spate of these. Husbands or boyfriends killing their women

    5. Helicopter pilot they said here. and she was only 20 with an 11 month old baby. He poured out laments that the worst thing was the baby would never know her mother..

  5. Good to see he holds on with his toes - F does that. She is part monkey. Mr B is a shoe man (his toes don't operate independently of each other). 43 C is way too hot. We were like an icecream dropped on the pavement when it got to 39C here.

  6. I’m so scared of heights I didn’t grow!
Well that’s my excuse for being short lol
We can get very hot summers here. I would never be without air conditioning now. My body just wouldn’t cope
Hopefully you will get some relief and just have lovely weather from now on

  7. Wow! Your son in law has a good head for heights! We had very few hot days like yours last summer, who knows what will come this year. The rose bush is beautiful.

  8. 43C is far too hot; humans melt at 43C. It was 34C here yesterday, that's enough for anyone!

  12. I was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
liver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC (www.ultimatelifeclinic.com) in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
treatment! This treatment is a breakthrough for all HBV carriers.
