Clean Up?

The council is supposed to be clearing up our area. Last week they had a big truck out and a team of workers.

The verges have been strimmed
The rubbish is still there
Don't know why they bothered strimming.  It's far too early in the year.  In a month's time the grass and weeds will be knee high again.

This blue bin was blown over a month ago .
The workers didn't put it upright but finally yesterday someone did  turn it back up the right way so it was ready for my rubbish.  The blue bins are for recycling

Our little cul de sac didn't even get it's verges cut. With only two permanent residents, us and elderly Vaso, they obviously didn't find it necessary to give us a spit and a lick.

  1. The councils around here do that a lot - strim without clearing the rubbish and all we get is chopped up rubbish. Their other favorite trick is to cut the oleanders back just as they are starting to flower. OK oleanders get a bit straggly in their flowering season but at least they are a bit of colour. lets hope they are coming back for your verges just before they get knee-high (later in the month)

    1. Sounds like councils everywhere read the same instruction book. Turn up, show face, muddle around and bugger off

  2. We are just about to have yet another Atlantic storm here so our bins could very well end up in the Irish Sea!

  5. Councils seem to work to their own unfathomable agenda.

    1. Still midwinter? The sun has been shining on and off here. Perfect for weeds.
      Hope your snow melts fast

  8. We had snow yesterday as well, probably 2-3 inches...but nothing is growing right now except those hearty weeds tucked into spots where the wind doesn't blow as much.

  9. Sadly it doesn't take much for weeds to grow, at the moment we are having to mow our lawns at least once a week as the grass is growing so fast. It's been quite a wet rainy Summer.

    1. Perfect weather for the garden!! I remember how often I had to mow lawns as a kid.
I also remember those wonderful summer harvests, specially the fresh corn!!
