The digger is digging a trench for new water pipes.
WAS digging. He got 1/3 of the way up the road and stopped. And drove his digger away
But the pipe has been delivered
Quite a few days ago
And temporary patching up done
Why do the workmen always leave such a doggone mess
The base of this olive tree is littered with plastic water bottles, empty cans, bits of pipe and that big piece of cardboard.
I used to pick it all up. I won't this time. I'll wait till the whole damn thing is over and done with
More workmen have just arrived, a different team every time, to put another temporary patch on yet another leak, It's turned into a Greek comedy worthy of Socrates or Aristophanes
Good question, I've seen tradesmen not clean up after themselves, maybe they think it's the homeowners job. Why did the digger only dig part way though
ReplyDeleteThat's another good question. Why did the digger leave? And another. When will he return??
DeleteTradesmen usually don't clean up after themselves here but the rubbish these crews leave is unbelievable. At least take your coffee cups, beer cans and dirty tissues. They really stick out on our road because there is normally no rubbish at all. Anything that does get blown down our way I pick up when I'm walking
Messy lot!
ReplyDeleteAfter our scaffolding team packed up and left P found cigarette ends, empty water bottles and sweet wrappers in the garden. He was not pleased.
I feel like sending the photo to the Mayor. It's taken them over a year to start, note 'start', fixing the water problem and now look at the damn mess they leave behind
DeleteP and I should provide them with a big rubbish bag when they arrive
DeleteA never-ending saga. Workmen here leave a fine mess as well.
ReplyDeleteRight now we have workmen working on the roads. Every single one of our roads!
ReplyDeleteYou cannot go anywhere without having someone holding a stop go sign or those plastic witches hats blocking off half the road forcing you all to merge into the one lane Wouldn’t mind so much except once they’re done the road deteriorate again in just a few weeks. Patching up doesn’t work but they keep doing that.
How very Greek to dig part of the trench and then have a more urgent job to attend to. It was like that when they replaced an electricity transformer under a building up the street from us. Mind you the rubbish is not unique to any culture; there are people everywhere as messy as that. We are daily surrounded by it here.
ReplyDeleteIt's all rather like our phone wires on the ground. You really couldn't make-up the way these people work (don't work). Maybe they should be paid for each job; but only after an inspection.
ReplyDeleteVery similar to what is happening here.
ReplyDeleteHi great reading your poost
