At this cafe you can sit in the soft comfort of an old armchair.
Come early, there's only one of them.
Was, only one of them.
I imagine it has been dragged indoors now after our mini monsoon. Great selling point but not for us. It's not at a 'K approved' cafeteria. I don't dare to sit somewhere K does not deem worthy of his presence .
Further down outside a fish taverna is a replica of a wooden fishing boat from the next door island of Hydra
And here are fishing nets laid out to dry along the waterfront.
The summer season is coming to an end and these nets will be folded up and covered for the winter.
I would possibly think twice before sitting in that outdoor upholstered armchair. Unless I had some bug repellent with me.
ReplyDeleteIt did look a bit 'overused' and you're right. Heaven knows who sat in it and what's lurking in that upholstering. I don't have to worry. Its off bounds. Was an odd thing to find on the walk

DeleteWe have a chain of bookstores here that when they first opened several years ago their big draw was that they had many sofas and easy chairs for people to sit and read and have a coffee. It wasn't long before all the nice seating disappeared and were replaced with tables and hard dining room chairs. I spoke to someone I knew that worked there and asked why they had removed all the 'comfort'. She said if you knew what teenage couples did on those sofas and what they had to clean up you'd never sit on them again. OMG, gross!!

DeleteThere used to be a very trendy coffee shop here in Brighton that had old sofas and comfy chairs. Even though everything was VERY scruffy, it was amazingly popular. They were all inside, of course!
ReplyDeleteThere are places with comfy chairs, in Athens but the chairs are covered in leather, probably faux but easily cleaned. I love comfort!

ReplyDeleteThe weather has improved and I noticed it out there again today. Haven't seen anyone actually sitting in it. Probably at this time of the year its the owner tha sits and waits for customers
