Normally after New Year's I would throw it onto the compost heap.
But last year my daughter Elli told me they keep theirs all year, still wrapped in silver paper. It not only lives all year without watering but starts growing again in time for the next New Year
It has indeed sprouted a green leaf. I was amazed.
I rewrapped it and it's good to go for another year. Not quite as leafy as last years

Deleteoh I dream I can amell those oranges (we'd be making marmalafe about now out of the neranjie ones that grow on the streets - there were particularly good ones outside a friend's place in Korydallos). It is atrange here to be a week or so before xmas and doing nothing at all about it.

Oh, oranges! So very Christmassy in my childhood days. I sometimes miss those innocent, simple pleasures from way back then.
