23 April

St George's Day.

My grandson's name day and also the name day of little Georgia, way downunder in Australia.

I know you both had happy family days

St George the dragon slayer, patron saint of England

Agios Georgios - a great martyr in the Orthodox church

Another fiesta comes and goes.

Grandchildren and their mother

Finding ways to pass the time
Who managed to stay  the longest?  Wasn't the one in pink

Had some pots of basil delivered today. They will be transplanted into big clay pots

    1. Very popular Saint here. Our big church is also dedicated to him. Usually there would a parade of his icon and sweets and bread at the church. Not this year

  2. St George's Day is not widely celebrated any longer in England. I gather it may be construed as too jingoistic. πŸ˜•
Your basil looks very healthy. We have tried to grow it several times but it always seems to end up ravaged by tiny white flies. Don't know where they come from but we have given up now.

    1. Sign of the times. Here it's a huge tradition. Each town, city, island has a patron saint and big parades.
Basil is late this year. Usually grows here big and bushy.
      No white flies

  3. Happy St George's Day Linda. I would be splitting the Basil in half and ending up with four plants if I was you.

    1. Hullo gardener Dave. I should split it in half? Wouldn't have thought of splitting basil. It's twice the price this year so I shall give it a try.

  4. Happy Birthday to your George!

What are they doing, that the one in pink, did not win? Just staying still? >,-) And where are they doing it? Outside, somewhere.

    Gentle hugs...

    1. It's his nameday not his birthday. His name is George and yesterday was the fiesta if St George.
They are balancing on their elbows outside in the yard. Not easy
