Signs of Summer

Sharing a greek salad with a household pet

A little fishing boat called Lindaki, a greek version of Linda.  This boat is a recent arrival, brought from the island of Paros, from another greek with a foreign wife?

Our first swim.  The water was cool and clean.  Vagionia beach is very, very quiet this year.  Great for an evening swim but we do miss the canteen and a small glass of ouzo after our dip in the sea

The yacht harbour is full again.

Some of the neighbourhood gang

Can't call this baby sitting anymore, the babies have grown up. Friends gather, they play, they squabble, they disappear off outside.  I am there for a few hours to make them toast and butter, these kids have simple tastes, rustle up a little something for lunch and find a little peace myself to read a book, write a blog

  1. What a lovely little beach. All things change and some it is a shame that they do. Enjoy your summer.

    1. This is one corner of the beach and fortunately has an overhanging tree. Elsewhere the beach is bare and dusty. It is a shame for everyone that the canteen has gone. It used to be popular with us all

  2. What a shame your little beach doesn't have its own taverna. That's the difference between an ordinary beach, and a really good one. I think you should have a word with someone, and take along the boy with the AK47.

    1. Exactly my sentiments but I keep telling myself to get over it and make the most of the peace and quiet and lack of other bods in the sea.
Poros hasn't got many beaches and most of them aren't much to shout about - neither is this one but the taverna next to the waves was summer magic

  3. Just catching up on your previous post. I think Heron drinks red tea. I took funegreek tea when I was ill in April. There are many good ones for detoxing and I also make my own dandelion tea which means nothing more than gathering leaves and making a pot of tea like normal tea! But it is very good to take now and again.
Summer is here and long may it last too!

    1. Dandelion tea is a favourite here but I find it very bitter. When I boil dandelion greens I always keep the water for k to drink.
      Too hot here. That's summer

  6. Oh that beach/water looks delightful!

Not so much, the "family pet." LOL

Yeah, those kids are big-ish. Great that they have simple tastes. Makes it easier on "Nana"!!!!

Now that it's the heat of summer, have you considered making your background color, a pale green or pale blue maybe?

    :-)

    1. Never thought about changing the blogs background colour. I like the pink. I will just go and see what other colours are available. You never know

  7. Our Cicadas have now arrived. Not millions of them, just a few in our big Oak tree. It's the sound of summer.

    1. The cicadas really intrigue me. They start up at sun up and trill away for about an hour and then stop till about an hour later. I have googled but can't find anything about the pause in their chorus

  9. The role of a Gran - be there and keep 'em fed! You do it in a brilliant, relaxed way which I try to emulate.

    1. I'm too relaxed at times, let them get away with hell. Makes you popular though....with the kids!
