Ooh baby it's cold out there.
There is snow falling all around us, so it seems, but up where we live it's just plain icy. I went out this morning to throw out yesterday's ashes, fill up the wood box and give my wild marmelade cat some biscuits but that's all.
I quickly put together dough for a loaf of bread and got some fasolatha, traditional bean soup, out of the freezer. The rest of the day has been spent toasting bits of bread and cheese in the oven of the wood fire, changing channels and sipping red wine.
Snow coming down over the hills on the mainland. This photo is taken by one of my daughter's from her balcony.
We did have a quick shower of hail but otherwise not even a snow flake.
And this is a photo taken from the house by the sea . A slightly different view from the blue skies of last week
And my own view today.
One pot has the soup, with the addition of a hot pepper and the other has a pot of water to wash the dishes later
It looks very cosy inside your house, especially with that glass of warm red!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness we kept the house warm all day. It really was freezing
DeleteIs it that time of day? I love that picture with the stove and the wine.🍇
ReplyDeleteIt's often that time of day recently. Cold weather is a good excuse
DeleteLooks great Linda. Snow and hail and rain comes to us all occasionally in Europe. Snuggle up and stay warm xx
ReplyDeleteEarly january was so warm it hardly felt like winter. These colder days are enjoyable. Thanks Rachel
DeleteA pot of water for the dishes? I love making fresh bread, so many possibilities.
ReplyDeleteWe have solar water heating, can use electric but that fire heats up enough water for kitchen use when there's no sun
DeleteYour fire looks warm and cosy.
ReplyDeleteThe fire warmed all the house. Lovely
DeleteI’ve been watching all that snow.
ReplyDeleteStay inside with the fire roaring. And that glass of red will help immensely.
Its nice for a few days but thankfully temps will be rising and we'll have a warm weekend
DeleteYours is the type of woodburner I always recommend to people. You get all benefit of the heat, plus a very efficient oven above. I wish I'd bought one instead of our fancy Godin.
ReplyDeleteIt is very handy but the heat can be terrific. We have to be very careful when cooking or heating things up
DeleteOur wood-fired cooker in the kitchen is like that. It has a mind of it's own, with a thermostat that is 'for entertainment only'.
DeleteWhat a wonderful way to keep the house warm. Here too it is very cold today, but in our terms (8 degrees in the morning ...).
ReplyDeleteIt's 8o today. Far too cold for us! But it wont last long. I hope you have good heating
DeleteNothing nicer than sitting in front of a wood burning stove on a cold day .Love that your stove has an oven, what make is it?
ReplyDeleteWhat make? It was made on the Greek town of Tripoli so it's not a known brand. It gives off loads of heat. We don't use our central heating anymore. The wood is much cheaper
