The Sun Doesn't Shine Every Day

Sunday - one of the few days in the year we didn't have hot running water. After 2 rainy days the solar heater has shrugged it's shoulders and taken a few days off

Wet paving stones, grey sky but the rose bushes are loaded with flowers

Our first fire  this winter

Meatball soup - Yiourvalakia
To warm the cockles, though some say raki or a few kilos of wine does a better job
Meatballs made with rice and lots of garlic and parsley in an egg and lemon sauce with bread toasted in the oven of the wood fire, with olive oil, oregano and an extra shake of salt

A rather sad photo.  Brown grape leaves along the wall, a BBQ in need of some paint, mist over the hills. I'm sure the sun will be out tomorrow and then I'll be noticing dust on the shelves and cobwebs in the corners.

Each day has its 'charm'

    1. These roses seem to bloom most of the year. I cut them right back in February and then they grow like mad. This year I pruned them mid summer too.

  3. One of the reasons I like cloudy days is that you do not see clearly dust, cobwebs, and wrinkles.

  4. I find it useful to remove my specs on sunny days - cobwebs? Dust? Nope. I would be more than happy to just have some lemon sauce and a couple of slices of that bread - anyone want my meatballs? Enjoy that cosy log burner, it looks the business!

    1. It's not very cold yet. No fire tonight. I love the heat, though clearing the ash in the morning gets to be a bore.

  5. That looks a good woodburner with the oven on top.

    1. The oven cooks really well, meat, bread, whatever.

  6. That woodburner looks wonderful. What a good idea; fire below, oven above. Simplicity is always best!

    1. It cooks food really well. Takes quite a big dish, is good for baked potatoes, meat, bread, pizza or just toast
