Poppies, fields of poppies
I pick handfuls and spread the tops with seeds and petals around the wilder part of my garden in the hope they'll appear outside my window next spring
Chamomile.
They look like a white daisy but are much smaller and closer to the ground
Little beds of chamomile are appearing in the fields as well, sweet smelling if you crush a little. Time to pick and dry some for next winter
Swallows are swooping round the house at dusk. Too fast for me to photo
I can imagine a sea of poppies waving in the breeze, what a lovely thought....
ReplyDeleteChamomile, reminds me of Beatrix Potter...a perfect day !
Lovely.

Peter Rabbit rolling in fields of chamomile, Mrs Tiggy Winkle damping her ironing with chamomile water and Jemima Puddle Duck serving her friends chamomile tea! Charmng
DeleteBeautiful poppies!
ReplyDelete"...a camomile bed,
The more it is trodden
The more it will spread"
They are pretty little flowers, though I can't stand the smell or taste of the tea.
What a delightful rhyme. Certainly the more it is trodden the more the smell will spread!
DeleteI haven't seen a Swallow yet, but the Cuckoos are making a lot of noise.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard a cuckoo here. Looked up on Google and Greece of course does have cuckoo's.
DeleteK says he has heard them. Must keep my ears open
I would love to see those fields of poppies and chamomile.
ReplyDeleteApparently cuckoo who only sings it's song until it finds a mate. I haven't heard any yet either
Interesting about the cuckoo. Still haven't heard it here
DeleteYou gave me a good idea about the poppies, i hope it will work here.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of digging some up and planting them in the garden too. Would really love to have those red poppies next year. I remember you posted a photo of a field of poppies near you...magnificent
DeleteLovely! So nice to have colour finally.
ReplyDeleteMost of the winter colours comes from the orange nasturtium flowers, or the yellow clover/oxalsi. Love the nasturtiums could do without the oxalis
ReplyDeleteI hope they all take for you.
ReplyDeleteThe camomile would be lovely for hot herbal tea during the winter months
Poppies to me just mean Anzac Day is coming
The fields are full of red poppies just now and they really are gorgeous
