A hive of activity is an exact description of the buzz inside the market. Supermarket it may be but don't think it is one of those huge stores you spend hours trudging up and down the isles. Lucky most of us know each other and have a chat while politely squeezing our way past each other.
Yesterdays rugs hanging out to dry
A handrail put in for the unsteady (me) as they go in or out of the balcony door. The wall behind has now been whitewashed and looks clean and smart
Wednesday is the big day for spring cleaning in preparation for Easter Sunday. K whitewashes all the walls
We also picked up 3 kilos of intestines which will be wrapped round the kokoretsi (offal) on the spit for Sunday's easter feast. One more stop was at the garden shop where I bought some strawberry plants, our first tomatoes, peppers, thyme, throubi (like thyme, no idea of the english translation) and some pansies. All those will be planted tomorrow when the grandkids come up again to paint 50 or so red eggs.
A very busy hive of activity!
ReplyDeleteSpring cleaning would be fun with this group. And baking is much easier with lots of strong young arms around
I bought some hot cross buns, on special and some Kourabiethes all from Aldi.
I won’t dye eggs as we usually end up with way too many and they don’t get eaten
Plus as it’s autumn here. The chickens slow down on the laying.
Enjoy all the help
You found kourabiethes? Not fair. Why can't I find hot cross buns in LIDLS?
DeleteWe've coloured 80 darn eggs. Thankfully the eggs were all given to us so we didn't have to actua;;y buy them and we've given most of them away. Just enough for the family to crack on Saturday night and Sunday.
Kalo Pasca!!!
We here have the last day of Passover, and tomorrow it is aloud to eat bread again, for those who did not hide some in their freezer, (like me).
ReplyDeleteIremember when I worke for a jewish company in Londaon many many years ago we had to clean the whole office and not leave even a crumb. Good for you!!! Bread is the staff of life.
DeleteI have several woven rag-rugs in the house, which I threw into the washing machine yesterday. My washing line looked just like yours!
ReplyDeleteA gypsy camp? I brought ours in today. We might even have a little rain!
DeleteYour growing season must be a month or months in front of us. We haven't even planted our seed potatoes yet.
ReplyDeleteI could have planted the tomatoes a few weeks ago but the weather is definitely warmer now and there will be no more very cold weather till November!
