Rain

Rain rain don't go away

Please come again another day

Maybe tomorrow they say.

The rain came, stalking us, waiting till we were sitting beside the sea with all our grandchildren. Then the heavens opened!

But the grandchildren outwitted the rain, moved us lock, stock and barrel, tables laden with souvlaki and pizza, glasses full of wine and beer.  We carried on, entertained by the thunder and lightening and rivers running off the tiles.

Nels ran to grab the bike helmets. I rushed to close car windows. Thank goodness I had the foresight to close the shutters up at the house.

Grand children don't mind drops dripping down their backs. A bit of rain didn't stop them from fetching beers, keeping Papou's jug of wine topped up or choosing ice cream for everyone to finish the night.

Others were enjoying the rain on their balcony. A glass of wine and a summer downpour.  A pleasurable end to a hot sweaty day

It poured down for about an hour. A good steady drenching for the olive trees

Nels and me.....looking a bit washed out 😁

They just can't resist poking out tongues

  3. Can't do better than JayCee's poetry. I can just iagine steam riding off tarmac and the water on the roads being warm to walk in.

    1. There was a mistiness about the ride back though it was midnight. The steam was rising all right

    1. Yes, we were lucky. But there didn't seem to be serious flooding elsewhere.... This time

  6. We had some great monsoon rains 3 weeks ago, and everything greened up. Now that green is half brown, and we are ready for some more rain. Unfortunately I doubt it's going to be soon.
Did it rain where the fires are? I sure hope so!

    1. The fires are under control now but the rain came too late for them. Everything dries out again so quickly doesn't it

  7. We have had record amounts of rain but, of course, not where all the fires are!!

  9. I love a good storm. The last one we had made us rush for the safety of our covered terrace, then seconds later it became so ferocious that we had to head indoors. Mid-August is when we usually have more.

    1. That was a good storm you had. Haven't had one of those for a while. August can have heavy downpours here too. Not every year though

  10. A good storm to clear the dust I’d say.
I just hope it cooled things down for you, but not made it too humid and muggy.
I do not like muggy weather
    A beautiful, happy family

    1. It cleared the dust and wasn't too muggy afterwards. I hate humidity too. Horrid
