A Bit Hot Today

Everyday's a scorcher.  I don't know why they bother with the weather forecast.  It's hot hot and more hot.  We really don't want to hear about record highs.

Builders, couriers and other outdoor workers have been told to stop work by 11.

The Acropolis is closed from 12 till 5.

Back at the Navy beach again. Coffee, cold water and a dip in the sea. There is a cool breeze again today.
This evening's temperature is lower, just a wee bit, and at 8pm it is comfortable to sit and watch our outdoor tv.

The cicadas are still going strong
Ants have been out in force.  They are more aggressive when rain is on the horizon but I think these high temperatures affect them the same way. Now that we are in the middle of the heatwave they've retreated. Not completely, but they're not on constant crumb patrol .

  2. Great photo. And you are upright - not a puddle like melted ice cream. Sitting in frost and fog I crave some heat but 1 hour of yours would be too much. I remember burning my feet on rocks - silly johnny foreigner who couldn't work out they were going to be hot. sandals all the way to the water after that.

    1. I did that myself today. I walked outside barefoot and literally burned the soles of my feet. I was walking on burning coals!

  3. Working at night may become the norm in hot summers in the future. Living underground like the ants may also become a thing.

    1. I wouldn't mind living underground like an ant but not WITH the ants!

  4. We had on and off rain all day yesterday. My wife said she was going 'stir-crazy', she didn't know what to do with herself.

  5. It must be almost impossible to get anything done in such heat.

    1. It is, believe me. Very early in the morning is the only time to get a few essential jobs done.

  6. Extreme weather is not good for anyone
Do you have mosquitoes? No way could we sit outside after dark. We would be eaten alive

  7. What a lovely photo, and look quite cool !
Our summer has so far been in the mid-nineties, I'm ready for some cooler days.
All the insects would be so annoying, I was bitten by a wasp yesterday....ouch.
