The nasturtiums are finished. I've ripped them all out and piled them in a corner to turn into compost.
The seeds went all over the place and I gathered up handfuls and threw them around. The nasturtiums come up by themselves every winter.
I also collected a container of seeds and I'll let them dry out. If I soak them in October they should be good to sprout and I'll plant these as well.
The sage cuttings sprouted roots and are happily growing in pots. Now I just have to keep them alive and flourishing through the summer heat.
All my garden treasures, are reappearing out of the winter growth. Here's the spreading eagle. Probably had a place on someone's mantlepiece before I found it in a bazaar

So many, growing like mad. It's survival of the fittest. I've staked the bigger ones and removed the lower shoots. They already have tomatoes

Tomatoes growing amidst the thyme - wonderful..Nasturtium seeds make poor man's capers - quite acceptable!

ReplyDeleteThe tomatoes are very healthy and they're appearing in other pots and the raised garden. All from a salad dug into the soil as compost.

DeleteHow wonderful to have tomatoes growing so abundantly. We have to coax and nurture ours and hope the sun shines long enough!

It certainly isn't summer here yet. Rain at night and a few thunderstorms.
DeleteWhat beautiful amaryllis! Volunteer tomatoes - that we should be so lucky... although I have some volunteer pumpkins sprouting in the compost. I expect frosts will see them off. Have you ever tried pickling nasturtium seeds?

DeleteI threw a lot of pumpkin seeds around but only 2 plants so far. They don't seem to like this year's compost. I'm hoping a few more plants will pop up. The summer garden is usually full of them, even though we don't get many pumpkins. They're my summer green cover.
My Nasturtiums are still going strong. I was just looking at some old photos of my veg garden in France; I really miss it. I have planted 2 Tomato plants here, so will keep my fingers crossed that there will be a few fruits on our return. All looks blooming on Poros.
