Autumn Crocus

 Autumn flowers are rather few and far between


This one I've never seen before. There are several clumps along the side of the road where I walk.  It looks like a combo of a  freesia and a crocus. Whatever it is I love it's bright yellow colour.


And the crocus. I should peer inside one and if it has any saffron threads.

The same view today. Lush and green. In the far corner are nasturtiums. The rest is clover

    Are you getting thus really heavy rain (2100)? It has even knocked out our satellite TV signal! The streets are awash several centimetres deep.

      No, our rain has been fairly light. You get far more than us. Looks like a bright morning.

      Amend that. The kitchen window weather was light and bright but was quickly overtaken by the black clouds from the back window.
      Have seen your rainy streets in the morning news. We are so close but a lot of our weather comes from the Peloponnese. We've had nice steady showers

      Now you can see why I live that greenery. Dry brown earth does not a garden make. The nasturtiums are growing faster than the clover . Yeh

    What a difference a little water can make
    We have not had rain for a few days and everything is starting to dry out.
    Unfortunately we are supposed to be getting heavy rains again for the next three days.

      So far the rains have come just at the right time, just before I have to water, and it has been a steady rain. Perfect for mother earth

    Back in France, our Autumn Crocuses flowered about two months ago, and didn't last too long. I did notice this year that some had appeared where they hadn't previously grown. I wonder how they moved?

      The crocus used to grow mainly under the pine trees but this year they've appeared all over the road side. They're almost over now. Much later than France

      There are clumps of them all over the road sides but soon their bloom will be over.

    I love nasturtiums, although our flowering days are pretty much over. We've had a few light freezes, but the wisteria still looks luscious and green. It's always the last to go.
    The before and after photo is amazing, such a dramatic change!
