Shot

I've recently been given  my second Astra Zeneca shot. The vaccine is a bit controversial .  It's only being given to under 40s now.  It started off being administered only to the under 60's, then  it was safe for the over 60's too and now that's changed again..  Those waiting for a second jab can have the pfizer vaccine if they so desire though the consequences of mixing the two are not known yet.  But, hey ho, we're all guinea pigs anyway, whichever we get.

No side effects, no flu, no sore arm, no headache.  Will I be dead in 10 years.  Possibly but probably not from the covid vaccine.  Did it change my DNA ?  Who cares.  I could be dead in 10 years anyway.

Has the vaccine made me magnetic?  I 'm not yet attracting knives and forks or sticking to the car door.

Have I been injected with a microchip along with the vaccine.  It would have to have been tinier than microscopic!  If someone is tracking me they're going to have a lot of fun trotting after me from the kitchen to the garden and back again.

There's more but its tiring to even think about it.  Temperatures have risen.  We are in the middle of a heat wave.  Viruses don't like heat and neither do I.   I'm wilting and suffering in many other ways.

It was all a bit of a hassle.  Now if we leave the island we have to have proof that we are fully vaccinated to get back again or produce a very recent negative test.  K went and arranged with those in charge so I could get back home after my second shot without papers and tests.  Now I've downloaded an official looking paper saying I'm fully covered, with dates and social security numbers, and my age.  K and I had these papers turned into plastic covered ID cards.  So now we have more official documents to carry about.

In my bag I have my vaccine paper, my official ID with photo and fingerprints, a Navy ID and an E1 which is a paper from the tax office to say I'm a permanent resident of Poros.

They've got us all hog tied and we are expected to be happy about the whole situation.  We are free we say.  Yeh.

We're still wearing masks outside the home but the cases of covid in Greece are so low that it looks like we'll be free of them, at least outside in open spaces, by the end of the week.

  1. I had my second AZ shot last week but the press is already full of reports warning that the new virus variants are resistant to the vaccines. Our borders are opening up this weekend so goodness knows what is going to come across soon.

  2. Our island was teeming with people last weekend. It was a 3 day holiday. I bet they werent all vaccinated but hopefully they were virus free. We are supposed now to be virus free island.........till the next case pops up

  3. I got my first dose yesterday and as a support worker I could've had it done sooner but we were sitting back waiting to see how things went. First up here is front line and support workers, those in the medical fields and elderly, rest of population is after July. So far I've had a sore arm and a sort of metallic taste in my mouth but it hasn't changed my DNA or given me an extra limb etc.

    1. Good on you. I see Wellington has some sort of lockdown but they are acting very fast

  4. We both had our second A-Z jabs yesterday. My wife has a sore arm, I'm feeling nothing (so far). We are now both INVINCIBLE; unless run-over by a truck.

    1. That one shot has just arrived here. Looks like we'll have a more or less normal summer.

  6. There is some science to show that mixing the vaccines is even more effective than two shots of the same. Honestly I don't care what they vaccinate me with as long as I get vaccinated, as all have fewer risks than COVID itself. Glad to read your island is declared 'plague' free. We (Tigger and F) contemplated a ferry trip to a Saronic Island last weekend but couldn't face all the testing and paperwork needed! Enjoy your new fully vaccinated status.

    1. Thanks. Hope you get yours soon. Easier to travel but you still need the damn paperwork

  7. I'll be happy to get a vaccine when they finally get around to us. The date keeps getting pushed out further and further.
Turning your vaccination confirmation into a little card like that sounds like a great idea, even if it means more "stuff" to cart around with us.

  8. DH and I are both fully vaccinated with Pfizer now. Our province is moving into Level 3 on July 1 where there will be a lot more freedom. We're still very apprehensive about being around crowds of people as you don't know who is vaccinated and who isn't. We're still going to stick close to home although we'd love to go out for a nice meal which we haven't done for 18 months!! Take care.

    1. That's it, you don't know who's been vaccinated and who hasn't. The majority of locals have had the jab but there are so many visitors around now. Just hoping that this heat really does keep the virus at bay

  9. We have had one AZ needle, the second one to come in August. I am not keen on being in crowds of people as yet. I hope the people that come to the island are all vaccinated.

  10. We have patients that flash their vaccine proof constantly ~ we just smile, ask them to put their mask on, and move on (although a couple of folks asked if we wanted to make a copy..no, haha). I have given out more masks in the past two weeks than I did during the worst of Covid. Now that we are fully open, they walk in without them on and don't have one on them. Truthfully we would love to ditch it all, but the CDC still requires masks in medical and dental offices.
