So whats up

Your money or your life
First day out at the supermarket

We were the only ones wearing masks, except the workers. It was hot and sweaty and my glasses kept slipping off.

Shopping once a month sounds like a plan! In the cool very early morning. No heat, no humans

  1. Nice mask! I have just made one for myself, but it's for my hay fever not the virus. Not worn it yet as it has been too cold and wet for me to go out!

    1. Too cold and wet! Roll on summer.
This mask is just my style but I wasn't a happy bunny wearing the damn thing. And no other customer had one though there was a woman with gloves.

  2. Leave the mask in your pocket unless you have some personal phobia that if you dont you wear it you will get ill.

    1. It was more the idea that we were doing the right thing. I don't know if I would wear it again. But I think next time we will just shop at our little mini market and I'll just wash my hands when I return

  3. I bought us three masks each (from a dressmaking company who is making them and for each three sold they donate three) Have not worn them though. No people wearing masks when we have been out.

    1. We were the only ones here and no one looking to see how many in the supermarket, no cleaning of trolleys. It is over as far as Poros is concerned, it seems

  4. My two-weekly shop has to be done 'masked'. I don't like it, it's hot and unpleasant and my glasses steam up!

    1. Hot and unpleasant, that's it. And we are having a heatwave and the shop had their Aircon closed . I suppose that was for health reasons but the open door didn't hack it

  5. Oh, you used your bikini. The itsy bitsy teeny weeny one - only yours was pink starred and not yello polka dotted :)

Seriously our 'advice' was only wear one if you yourself are sick. But that advice is different from place to place Country to Country
Seems.....to our advisers....gloves are best left for health professionals who change them patient to patient

    1. They wear masks in the big cities but they are the places where you could catch something. We are clear.
Employees have to wear masks, most of them just hanging around their necks

  6. I am glad they haven't asked us all to wear masks. I hate the things (to wear) and I believe there is quite a lot of doubt about their effectiveness anyway.

    1. Yes, they told us too that masks don't help much, especially if they are not worn properly . I think we showed we are law abiding citizens and will now do whatever everyone else around here is doing.....nothing

  7. Right at the beginning of this someone sent us a whatsapp joke of a little kid musing: "So technically showing up at a bank wearing a mask and gloves is Okay. At this moment....are you thinking what i'm thinking?"

We've been told masks give people a false sens of security - in reality they slow the rate of transmission if you have it already (and of course you may not know that), but won't protect you from catching it.

    1. I remember that joke. Now we are living it.

  8. Pretty mask!

Ding-dang-things don't do much, other than supposedly *protect* other people, from our germs.

So you and the workers, were doing right! The rest of you Dear Neighbors, are not.

Shop early, every other week! Sounds like what we all should have been doing, before this miserable Wuhan Virus became a world scourge.

Hopefully we will have learned some good lessons.

  9. Yesterday was my first day wearing my mask for several hours, I had an eye doctor appointment and wished it could have waited.
It's so unpleasant having your face covered, and on top of it all, the girls at the office, told me they were expecting this mask-wearing to last well into next year....
    *Sigh*

  10. Today the Public Health Agency of Canada has recommended that people wear a mask if you are not confident that the social distancing rules will be carried out, such as grocery stores etc. We've worn a mask and gloves since the beginning of the outbreak. We are both seniors, hubby is what I call a 'super senior' as he is in his 80's and I am very leery of him going in any stores. I usually go in by myself. I can guarentee that at least a third of the people in the store are not obeying the social distancing rules and they are usually the ones not wearing a mask or gloves. Maybe it gives me a false sense of security, somewhat, but I'd rather be safe(?) than sorry. I can put up with the inconvenience and discomfort.
