A thousand thanks for a load of cheap firewood
He dumped the load and we paid a couple of young workers to come along with a chainsaw, cut it all up and throw it into our front yard
Hardly more than an hour and they'd cut it, thrown it all over the fence, stacked and covered it.
They got a tot of raki before driving off
A job well done
Christmas is officially done and dusted
Grandson Jamie came, taped up the boxes and stacked them on top of our big wardrobe
All the boxes used to go into our store cupboard above the bathroom. Now the Grandchildren have flown it's just too hard for us to retrieve stuff so it's stored in plan sight
At least we can reach things when we want it
Jamie is another tall grandchild and didn't need to climb our IKEA steps to arrange all the boxes . Thank you Jamie for helping out your Nana and Papou...... Now that Poppi has gone
Jamie has now also left for Athens before another storm came in
When K and I want something we wobble on a stepladder and hope nothing falls on top of us

How wonderful to have young people to do all the tall person stuff!
ReplyDeleteWe often need them but they're not so easy to find anymore.
Deleteooh those storage spaces above the bathroom... Mr T could climb a ladder if I left 9ne thete unattended for even a minute, and disappear into dark obstructed corners. He'd only come out when it suited HIM. Lucky you to have a tall mokopuna.
ReplyDeleteThe patari has deep dark corners. I can imagine Mr T curling up there and refusing to come out. We have a lot of stuff there still in those dark corners. Heaven knows what!
DeleteWhat a great word is mokapuna.
I must try and remember to use it more often.
That is a great load of firewood. Well done Jamie. Tall grandchildren are a godsend.
ReplyDeleteThat wood should almost last till spring. Depending on the weather of course
DeleteOh, I so identify with this issue. We had a great Christmas tree that I loved, but it was so heavy that last year I decided I would give it away. It's just too heavy for me to take down from the high shelf it's on. (Later I discovered I could have sold it for probably about $75 or more, they are really expensive these days!). I bought a new tree a week after Christmas for 1/3 the price it was originally listed as. It weighs less than 15 pounds, and I just hoisted it onto the shelf, no problem.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great load of wood! Does olive wood burn slow like oak or fast like pine? Or maybe it's in between.
Our Xmas tree was huge but last year K managed to cut out the middle piece. It still is very heavy!! We only used half the decorations. I'll have to get rid of most of them.
DeleteThe oak is a slow burner but the olive wood burns quite fast. We are using half and half
Your grandchildren are lovely. They definitely love their grandparents very much. Their parents have raised them brilliantly you should all be proud
ReplyDeleteWe are very lucky. Our girls brought their children up to be happy and loving and polite. They are all great kids.
DeleteWe love them all so much 😊
Ours is all tucked away in the classic 'Cupboard under the Stairs'.
ReplyDeleteI wish we had a low cupboard. Those boxes on top of the, wardrobe are an untidy sight. And they gather dust
DeleteHow long with all that wood last you over winter? How neat that you got it all for free, and had it cut and stacked by lovely people too. Our Christmas stuff went back up in the attic above the garage, out of sight till next summer.
ReplyDeleteI wish that Xmas stuff was out of sight but at least it's out of the way.
DeleteThe wood should lst till mid February which means we will need another load. It was freezing yesterday and the fire was lit mid morning
Grandchildren can be very useful . . .
ReplyDeleteWe relied on them a lot but now they're off to live their own lives
