Photos in the Storm

Why has this storm not been given a name??

There was bad flooding all over  the country.  Two people were killed, one by raging flood waters and the other by huge waves while securing a yacht

Our stupid cat
It's pouring with rain and she's sitting out there on the wall. She's been fed and had a little extra but just won't go and shelter
Daughter Danae suggested she wanted to come inside.  Not this one. I've been feeding her twice a day for 10 years but she still spits at me when I bring her food and will swipe with open claws if I get too close

Son in law Kyriako's, blue and white,  water taxi in the distance . It had just been hit by a rogue yacht.  The yacht came free from it's moorings across on the mainland, got swept across the strait and collided with the Socrates which was tied to the wharf on Poros .  Fortunately the damage was minor but involved a lot of paperwork afterwards

Cleaning up
The harbour is full of rubbish

Son in law Yiannis went down to pump out the water in Ks boat
He had to do it with a hand pump
There was so much flotsam and jetsam he couldn't risk it being sucked back into the engine if he used the boats electric pump

A stormy harbour

Fousa.
 Grapevines under even more water

And now there's more rain scheduled tomorrow

  1. Southern Europe is really getting battered at the moment.
It seems nowhere in the world is escaping from snow, wind or rain right now.

    1. Yes, incredible flooding in Malta and Sicily and now elsewhere. NZ got battered too and it's supposed to be summer there. Huge storm approaching the US.
      Crazy weather everywhere

  2. Hard to imagine so much rain in Poros. To have so much debris in the harbour it must have been very violent

    1. Rough enough for car ferry to briefly stop it's journey across the narrow Strait. That doesn't happen very often

  3. It looks so rough in the sea. Hard to imagine. My cats often sit out in the rain, they seem to like it, along with wet grass gazing around as if nothing is happening. And then they come in and sit down on my lap. Soaked.

    1. I thought cats hated getting wet. Not all of them

  4. We have been watching all the wild weather in the northern hemisphere.
Glad there was no lasting damage done.
The clean up might take a while longer
Will the vines survive all that rain? Definitely sounds like a stay inside day for sure

    1. The vines don't mind the wet though they can get a nasty mould. I suppose the sun usually dries them out quickly.
The extra watering now makes for a good crop later. As long as we don't have endless heatwave es..... Later

  5. All this global warming seems to involve a LOT of water. What is all that stuff in the sea? It looks like Sugar Cane!

    1. The canes in the sea are from the groves of bamboo which grows along the banks opposite I think. There's an awful lot of it
