The Blood Bank

 Our family donors..

All the older family members are regular donors even during the pandemic.  The mobile blood bank comes through here about every 3 months.

Here are 'our' three

My rays of sunshine
They can always find a reason to look on the bright side and have a bit of fun

  1. Well done them!
I used to donate but it seems that I am a "slow bleeder". Others would be coming in, filling their plastic sacs then off to get their tea and biscuits while I was still lying there slowly oozing. When I questioned the phlebotomist she said that, as mine was so slow they would probably only use the plasma. I don't donate any longer, but my name is still on the register for emergencies.

  3. I admire anyone who donates blood as it is such a worthwhile thing to do. I'm unable to do so as I fainted and got told never to give blood again :(

    1. My sis in law is like that. At least you tried. Not everyone can donate and many wouldn't even think of it

  5. Well done to your three, thye are doing a wonderful thing. My Dad used to give blood , for what used to be called the blue babies, and could get called to Tauranga hospital any time of the day or night.

  6. I used to donate but it was so hard for them to find a vein that I stopped. They don't want my blood any more as, apparently, I am too old.

  7. I think we have a blood drive here soon but not sure how regularly it happens. My childrens father has ORH- blood so he donates all the time, we still have to find out which one of my 3 has the same type

  8. We applaud their true community spirit. F tried to donate years ago in NZ but was turned away because they considered her underweight (was doing triathlons at the time), so since then has only given small amounts for research purposes - has a friend working in medical research on immunology.

  9. Bless 'em it's a noble thing to do.
The last time I was home in England, I was unable to donate blood here in the USA. Something to do with mad cow disease.
