I celebrated my 68th birthday in the first week of December, the same day as my tallest grandson celebrated his 19th birthday. Only I was on the island and grandson was in Athens.
A cheesecake. My favourite. Made by my grandaughter.
And the cards, 2 birthday, one christmas.
The pottery turtle is a present. It's for a plant but I can't imagine putting dirt and grubs in it yet so it is still sitting on my chest of drawers.
I got all sorts of nice things, a visit from the family and lots of gin and tonic
I do so love that my grandchildren have grown up now and instead of me making up Treasure Hunts for them they make my birthday cake.
Turtle ready to blow out the sparklers
Not 'Silent Night' but 'Happy Birthday'
Tall grandson turned up the next day on the one 'Flying Dolphin' (hydrofoil) still bringing people to the island and gave us the best of surprises. He has decided its better to sit out the lockdown and enjoy Christmas on the island with family and friends.
Happy belated birthday, lovely you had the family around. So good to have the young ones to do the technology stuff for you.
ReplyDeleteGrandchildren who can fix our computers are greatly appreciated. Thanks Kiwikid
DeleteHappy Birthday :) When I turn 68 my 'tall' grandson will also be 19. I also love cheesecake so there you go, so much in common... I'm sure we'd get on famously. If only I was coming back to Greece - one day hopefully.
ReplyDeleteJust a couple of kiwi girls. Got the same name too! You'll be travelling again one day and we will still be here
DeleteHaha, forgot about the name too!
DeleteHappy Birthday! What a nice surprise to have your grandson home for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThanks Janice. It was a nice surprise indeed. We were not expecting him at all. He is Santa's helper and hands out the pressies every year . All is well
DeleteA very happy birthday to you! That's so nice to have a birthday cheesecake made by the grandkids! -Jenn
ReplyDeleteI asked them to make me a cheesecake. We can usually find a packet one in the supermarket but they've stopped making them apparently so she made it from scratch. Clever girl
DeleteA belated Happy Birthday to you. Lovely to have the cheesecake made for you and to have Grandson home for Christmas. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThanks Susan. It was a lot belt surprise to see our grandson. Now we can be all together.
DeleteHappiest of birthdays to you
ReplyDeleteYour so lucky to have wonderful grandchildren who love you and spoil you
Thanks Angela. They are a wonderful lot of kids. Love them to pieces. You know what it's like being a Nana!!
DeleteOur youngest son has invited us for Christmas Eve Supper. It's so good having the tables turned, and having them do the work. They will (of course) be coming to us on the 25th.
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate being able to sit back and enjoy the festivities. We will also go to our daughters on Xmas Eve but everyone will be here on Xmas Eve. Tradition !
DeleteHappy Birthday summer baby. Looks like you had a great day. We hope your Christmas is even better now that everyone is home. xxx F & Mr T
ReplyDeleteThanks Tigger and F. We did have a great evening, until 8.20 when everyone scrabbled to get out the door and be home before 9.
DeleteXmas will be as usual it seems. Our families are a bubble so we will be All together. Santa has special authorisation . Good kids will get pressies and bad ones a lump of coal. I hope I'm not on the coal list.
Oops. Belated happy birthday to you. I am all behind with my blog reading these days!
ReplyDeleteI didn't blog about it till well after the event. Don't worry.
DeleteHappy Birthday Sagitarrius, from a fellow fire sign. Great grandkids and kids and everything. Lovely xxx
ReplyDeleteHi to you too Rachel . I liked that photo of them outside. Can't remember why they lit the candles out there. Probably so I could take the photo. Great scene
DeleteHappy birthday, what a wonderful family you have.
ReplyDeleteThanks Yael. Nice to see them all together
DeleteGlad to see you had an enjoyable birthday, and how awesome to have grandson home like that.
ReplyDeleteSo glad he came home. Love to see them all together
DeleteHappy birthday to you! You can't beat a good cheesecake, care to share the recipe?
ReplyDeleteI'll ask Nels how she made it. Cream cheese of course and blackcurrant jam on top. She made one a few days later for her father's name day
DeleteHappy birthday! How nice to have your grandkids make you the cake you enjoy, and the gifts looks like a lot of fun to get! Oh, and you have a very handsome grandson too!
