From start to finish
Lucky Danae. She has the lamb, uncooked and bloody, propped up in her sink all night.
I remember when we lived on the island of Salamina and my brother R and sister in law Joan came to share a Greek Easter with us. The boys got the lamb wired onto the spit and it spent the night in the bath tub.
It's stinky. And it drips blood. Seriously stomach upsetting.
Not so stinky once it's cooked
The boys do the cooking at Easter.
Except for the salads, potatoes, tzatziki..
And all the other preparation
To be continued....
Oh I just love roast lamb. Drool, drool....
ReplyDeleteIt was perfectly cooked, tender and full of flavour. Next Easter on a Greek island?
DeleteOh how I wish ....
DeleteThe Easter lambs are only about four to six month old when they are slaughtered Linda. I bet though the taste is amazing?
ReplyDeleteIt was a very tasty little lamb
DeleteLove "the boys do all the cooking" - it sounds like a kiwi BBQ :))
ReplyDeleteJust the same. Boys all over the world no doubt love playing with fire
DeleteMy son in law had a lamb on the spit on Brianna’s birthday. We kinda went early on the Easter celebration. I don’t think Jesus minded. He’d already been crucified and resurrected once alreqdy this year.
ReplyDeleteAlithos anesti. Ke to xrono
Love lamb on the spit.
ReplyDeleteDelicious!
DeleteWhen we did our whole Lamb for my 50th, the beast stayed the night in the bath too. It was smothered in crushed garlic, harissa, and herbs. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYours probably wasn't as stinky with all those herbs and flavourings. And the next day, the best way to celebrate!!
