'Tea' Leaves

A greek coffee is served in a small cup, think espresso size.  There will be 2 inches of coffee, and at the bottom, one inch of grounds.  If there's someone with a little imagination then it's fun to read the trail the coffee grounds leave.

Ideally you swirl the grounds around and turn the cup upside down on the saucer, turning it 3 times if I remember rightly.

K and I had our morning coffee at the cafe  and while the men were discussing fishing or soccor or something equally entrancing I took a photo of his cup.  No turning it upside down and swirling it around.

This is the photo I sent off to my daughter who does have a great imagination and something of a gift.  At the same time I put it onto our family Whatsap page with the comment 'what do you see?"

I could  see a wandering path and a couple of bug's eyes.  Not much imagination on my part.  A swift answer came back from Australia, 'I can see an empty cup'.
Australia - one point

But my daughter's reply was equally as fast

Can't you see the kiwi??

And in case you can't

If this had been my cup I would have just presumed that visitors would be arriving again, sometime in the future.  But this was K's cup.  Does that mean a trip to NZ for him?  And where he goes then so go I

Hold your breathe folks and check this space ....

  1. Who knows what's round the corner? I think I would have more faith in your coffee grinds than any politicians at the moment. Super imagination by your daughter.

    1. You did well. An innocent orca eh. Sort of looked like a dragon to me. Whatever it is it had better leave that kiwi alone...or else

    2. Ps don't know where that 'innocent' came from

    1. Good on You! I couldn't see it till she circled it and then it was obvious. You should look at your tea leaves , or break a tea bag

    1. The Greeks say it is not as strong as Nescafé or filter. Depends on what you're used to I guess

  8. I can see the kiwi. We are now able to travel to parts of Oz but must quarantine on our return. I suppose being a kiwi you could come here if you isolate. Not sure about K.

    1. What a dream. I don't even have a passport anymore, not even a greek one. But you never know, in a year or two

  9. We had a Greek girl at college with us. She had one of those very small conical coffee cooking things, and would occasionally offer us a cup of grainy coffee. Not to my taste at all.

    1. That's right you need a special small pot to boil the coffee. I tried for 40 odd years to enjoy that coffee. Now I mostly only drink it at memorials along with a swig of liqueur

  11. A kiwi and a road. Definitely a trip!
We used to do this all the time when we were little. My aunts would always see a tall dark haired man who we would marry and make lots of babies lol
My husband is dark. But not so much with the tall oh well
Obviously the messages were a little scrambled

Too much soccor, cars and football make for such a boring coffee morning
