Poros Pics

 December...

It's still warm enough on a sunny day for coffee by the sea

The streets are merry and bright
Even at night
And alive with the piped sound of Christmas carols

The Central
 'Mayoral Square'

Down one end of the harbour winter works are under way. Sewage pipes are being replaced.
The road is closed but the works hopefully will be completed over the winter months
Better now than midsummer

Bundles of nets all along the waterfront are wrapped against the elements till spring
The little boat is decorated with flags for the festive season
It is the tradition here to decorate boats at Christmas and New Year

All the yachts which make up the
'Greek Sails' flotilla are tied up to the wharf for winter refurbishment

    1. I've only been downtown once after dark. Marvellous. Houses, cafes, everything was festooned with lights

  2. Upgrading the sewer pipes, does that mean you can now flush the paper down? Or do you currently do that ?
    It all looks very festive

    1. Nope, it still all goes in the basket provided. I think they'll have to replace all the side pipes too connecting to houses

  4. The pohutakawa were early here this year. They look lovely with the Jacaranda.

    1. The jacaranda are amazing. I remember their vibrant colour all along the streets of Te Puke.

  5. Lovely photos, hope the sewage works is done on time. Cool day for us tomorrow just 17 deg C forecast but heading up to the 30's for the weekend. Love the pohutukawa, lots in flower around Mt Maunganui at present (I see from photos) Happy Christmas to you and your family and all the best for the coming year.

  6. We had thought that our nearby roadworks were finished, but (Whoopie) another lot have returned, dug a huge hole in the road again, and gone on holiday. Every day a new surprise!

    1. Why do roadworks seem to be never ending. Ours will be going on for months, maybe years. They've only done a small part of the harbour
