Our house is a very, very, very fine house....
Our neighbourhood
The wee house from another angle
Swinging the camera to the left...
The flat and fertile valley of Fousa with its olive groves and vineyards
The sea beyond. Those hills in the distance are the mainland
Swing the camera to the right and we have a view of Vagiona Bay below us
That's where we go swimming in the summer
The cypress trees show where an old monastery (nunnery) once stood. There's nothing left now but a few stones and an old well.
The bay below is supposed to have underwater remains from an ancient city but those who live and fish down there say it's an old wives tale.
Though 5,000 years ago it was a bustling harbour serving the Temple to Poseidon on the hilltop above.
Nice to see your house location. You should be a consultant to the tv programme A Place in the Sun where British people long for such a spot to buy. You would be able to tell them from the ground what it is like. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWe have quite a few foreigners here right now. The house on one side is rented by a french couple and the house on the other side is owned english couple. Foreigners seem to like it here even with the red tape usual delays.
DeleteOh, those views!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately not from our house. We can just see the sea. if we could trim some olive trees the view would be better. I took these pics from further up the road on my daily walk
DeleteYou are up high. Love the views.
ReplyDeleteOur views are mainly of the pine forest and olive trees. Those views are from up the road a little.
DeleteWe share sea views but not our wind and rain like today.
ReplyDeleteYes, wind and rain does tend to keep you indoors away from the windows.
DeleteLucky you, tucked away in the greenery with not many neighbours.
ReplyDeleteIs your elderly one - a lady whose name I can’t remember- the one with all the olive trees - still around. You did say how close she was to your house but I’ve forgotten
Yes, Cathy, she's still around and growing older in mind but not so much in body. She still helps with the olives and looks after her chooks. Vaso lives about 20 metres away. From her terrace they have a beautiful view of the bay below. Theyre just a few metres higher up and it makes a huge difference.
DeleteI'd always imagined that you lived on the edge of a village. It looks ideal.
ReplyDeleteWe are 6 kms from the town. I'm very happy up here away from the harbour bustle. A few houses scattered around and quite a few dogs
ReplyDeleteOur landscapes are somewhat similar, only I miss the sea.
ReplyDeleteVery, very fine indeed, what a glorious setting. How nice to be able now to picture you there.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to actually see where you live, your home and the water view. I'd love a view like that.
