Island Photos

Looking up from the waterfront to the tiers of houses above

I visited my daughter in our old neighbourhood.
This is the winter scene.  No brightly coloured bougainvillia covering that arch over the street and no parked cars or bikes which usually take up space outside the houses

Looking down into someone's garden
The house is right above the sea.....
and next door to the graveyard

One of the more picturesque houses
Looking inviting even in winter with that terrace and sea view

Buying fish from the caïque

This bush is next to the wisteria. The flowers are no longer at their best. Their.
 scent is delightful .
What is it?

  7. That little white house with the steps and terrace would suit me fine. A nice view of the sea too.

  10. Like northsider above, I also wondered if your shrub was a viburnum.
It wouldn't be my choice to live next to a graveyard, whatever the view, but I guess it doesn't bother some people.
We used to buy fresh fish from the boats at Whitianga years ago, but they no longer allow you to do that. Great that you can :)

    1. I think you're right about the vibernum. I'd like to grow some in my garden and with wisteria. I'll be looking for a plant

  11. Looks like a viburnum to me as above ^^^, I've been expecting little pathways like the one in your photo to have little pots of flowers like geraniums - they are so colourful.

  12. Geraniums are midsummer but they're not all that popular. I have three huge bushes. They get very straggly

  13. Wonderful views, nice to see without all the business of summer.
