I was washing dishes at the sink when there was a very loud explosion. It was a blast, sounded like a gunshot. I got a huge fright of course and for a minute couldn't work out what had happened.
The coffee mug had not fallen down and broken, it had literally exploded.
Wish I had taken a photo of the glass pieces. They were not shards but lumps of glass and had mainly fallen in the sink and surrounds and not gone flying all over the kitchen. I had no cuts or wounds.
Immediately it was attributed to the evil eye and our visitor who had just left. Wierd or what.
I have two more of these nice IKEA coffee mugs and they are years old. I'll leave them safely in the cupboard.
My mother was very superstitious. Some has rubbed off on me. She would definitely have been saying something about the visitor who had just left. There was always an answer for everything.

ReplyDeleteApparently every thing glass IKEA makes is exploding from tables to cabinets and cups.
To keep costs down IKEA glass is cooled quicker making it unstable. Apparently idea glass is a ticking time bomb!.

ReplyDeleteBahhhh, in Scotland maybe, but here? It's got to be the evil eye. I did have a lot of IKEA glasses but I think theyve all broken normally. These mugs are at least 8 years old. Can't go to IKEA anymore. Too far away and you waste too much money when you get there lol
